Nicotine salts are the natural form of nicotine found in the leaves of the tobacco plant and is often paired with benzoic or citric acid, which lowers the pH making it smoother to inhale as well as making it more efficiently absorbed by the body. This form of nicotine is used place of freebase nicotine to provide a strong kick of nicotine without the harshness that can accompany freebase nicotine at higher strengths. This gives nicotine salts two main benefits: it's possible to vape nic salt e-liquid at higher strengths than regular liquids, and they provide a nicotine rush that's similar to smoking a cigarette. This makes nicotine salts a popular choice amongst smokers who have recently made the switch to vaping.
The name can cause confusion - although they are called 'salts', this only describes the form that the nicotine is found in (similar to crystals!). Nicotine salt e-liquids will not taste salty.
Please note: most nicotine salt liquids are not suitable for use in sub-ohm devices and are best suited to low-power mouth-to-lung kits or refillable pod mods. There are some brands that create nicotine salt e-liquids with low nicotine content and with a higher VG blend - these can be used in sub-ohm devices!
